Any solutions yet?  I need more compression vertically.  There's also much vertical space betwixt lines/folders in the folder pane and the bulletin preview pane.  There used to exist settings in Outlook 2013 that immune for more compression and lines in precious
vertical screen existent estate.  The mouse/touch screen toggle does not do much.  Please fix!!

I besides am looking for a solution.  And I take read through this discussion thread.  And I echo what others have said - the issue is NOT font size.  The issue is "White Space".  And using the "Mouse" view still leaves too much "White Space" betwixt menu bar items and left pane navigation items.

Interesting that "Touch" view increases the white space between items, both horizontally and vertically.  So there must be some software setting for the corporeality of white infinite, perhaps hard coded into the GUI.

Hopefully Microsoft reads this recommendation, but what I think is needed is a "Third" view/mode option where (and forgive my pixel estimates as they are my attempt to facilitate agreement the GUI ask):

Current "Touch" way - xx pixels of white infinite (to allow for fatty fingers!)

Current "Mouse" mode - 10 pixels of white infinite

New/Additional "Minimum" mode - 2 pixels of white infinite

I accept received the standard response - tough luck, nosotros practise it our fashion!

They should know that many professionals like to see as much data as possible without the need to coil and/or folio for more information.  From a usability perspective I take always advocated less mouse/keyboard bear upon, especially when developing a newer version of a product.  Practise not go backwards !

BTW, I work for a company just implementing Office 2016 (virtually 90000 seats), so this comment is non only 1 person'due south (IT Professional) perspective.

But, hey, thanks for responding !

Later on googling different search terms I came across, this post

Where someone pointed out, under the quick access toolbar there's an option to add a switch to touch view or mouse view!

Quick access toolbar seems to exist the only manner to find this choice, at to the lowest degree certainly did not find it trawling through the options hidden away in the unlike areas.  So so frustrating. Does anyone at Microsoft do any serious work?

Have the recent poster'southward tried the above solution?

It changes the brandish mode from a touch on brandish mode to a mouse mode.  Basically they spaced the folders more so it would be easier to tap with a fat finger vs an authentic mouse arrow.

Yes. Nosotros've used that existing feature. The betoken remains: from Outlook 2007 forwards, the designers in Redmond have added a lot of extra horizontal white space between successive lines of text in the Folder Pane and E-mail views. As compared with Outlook 2003 and before.
